Updated November 2, 2026. Dates below are taken from the official Government of Canada benefit calendars (Benefits payment dates and CRA benefit payment dates).

Millions of Canadians rely on federal and provincial benefit payments such as the Canada Child Benefit (CCB), the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Old Age Security (OAS) and the GST/HST credit. This page originally covered the June 2025 payment dates. We’ve corrected it against the official calendars and added the upcoming 2026 dates so it stays useful.

Correction: there was no June 2025 GST/HST credit payment

An earlier version of this article listed a GST/HST credit payment on June 5, 2025. That was wrong. According to Canada.ca, the 2025 GST/HST credit was paid on January 3, April 4, July 4 and October 3, 2025. We apologise for the error and have removed the unofficial sources it came from.

What you need to do to get paid on time

  1. File your income tax return every year, even if you had little or no income. Most CRA benefits, including the CCB and the GST/HST credit (now the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit), are calculated from your return.
  2. Sign up for direct deposit. Payments arrive faster and more reliably than cheques. You can set it up through CRA My Account, your bank, or Service Canada for CPP and OAS.
  3. Keep your details up to date. Update your address, marital status and children’s details with the CRA, and your CPP/OAS details with Service Canada.
  4. Turn on payment reminders. CRA My Account can send a reminder about a week before each payment.

What if a payment doesn’t arrive?

Posted cheques can take longer than direct deposit, and payments may arrive a day or two after the listed date depending on your bank.

Beware of benefit scams

Canada.ca warns about false information online. The CRA and Service Canada won’t ask for payment by gift card or cryptocurrency, and won’t threaten arrest. Don’t click links in unexpected texts claiming you have a refund or rebate. Sign in to your official account directly, and check the official calendar instead of social media posts.
